Interesting History

Why Did the Democratic and Republican Parties Switch Platforms?

During the 1860s, Republicans, who dominated northern states, orchestrated an ambitious expansion of federal power, helping to fund the transcontinental railroad, the state university system and the settlement of the West by homesteaders, and instating a national currency and protective tariff. Democrats, who dominated the South, opposed these measures. After the Civil War, Republicans passed laws that granted protections for African Americans and advanced social justice; again, Democrats largely opposed these expansions of power.

If you don’t stop and think about this and look at how it has effected the politics of today your blind. I don’t think either party is doing what is best for the American people. I think they are out for themselves first, and what ever falls through the cracks is whatl we get. How many people voting for the Democrats really know the history of their party? Do you think they would really care if they did?

We are nothing but pawns to be used and then tossed aside by the people we elect to office. Do you really think that if our elected officials didn’t have to count on our votes to hold office. That  they would go out every two years to meet and ask for our support? For our money? Don’t fool yourself if you think they really care. They are in it for the power the money and now with the internet they can have fame as well. Up until Bill Clinton became President politicians weren’t celebrities. They didn’t seek face time on TV or the internet to reach people across the United States. From what I remember they weren’t known outside of their states or districts if that.

We the people of America need to remind the politicians that they only have power because we allow it. We need to strip them of all the perks that they have given themselves. They don’t deserve more than what the average person in their state gets from  working a full time job. They are suppose to be doing this for the people and the country not for what they can get our of it. When they leave office they go back and get a job. No benefits from the taxpayers. No salary, no health plan no retirement. If a worker loses his or her job in the private sector do they get paid for the rest of their life? No. But if you work for the government you do. This should stop today.
