Is The Supreme Court Protecting Our Freedoms
Supreme Court rejects challenge to limits on church services; A divided Supreme Court on Friday rejected an emergency appeal by a California church that challenged state limits on attendance at worship services that have been imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Roberts said similar or more severe limits apply to concerts, movies and sporting events “where large groups of people gather in close proximity for extended periods of time.”
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
When the Supreme Court starts ignoring the Constitution or failing to uphold it, the country is in trouble. Will the government start limiting the press? Does the press have the right to use camera’s? What about recorders? How many techs are in the news rooms? Freedom of assembly, is that on the list next? Oh right they already can do that. But not if you protest or riot burn and loot. The right to peaceably assemble! When you turn into a mob to start looting and burning it’s a different matter. You may want to consider if you can pay the consequences of your actions.
The people have the right to decide if they want to attend church or not. The priest have the right to hold service if they want to. The vast majority of American people can decide for themselves if they want to take the risk of exposing themselves to the public during a pandemic. This is not the governments roles.
