Iran Launches Barrage of Ballistic Missiles at Israel
Iran launched at least 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, which the regime said was in retaliation to the killings of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.Most of the missiles intercepted but few areas of central and southern Israel were struck, officials said. U.S. destroyers in the region helped Israel intercept some of the missiles, the Pentagon said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran “will pay” for the attack.
Israel has reported no casualties. Palestine confirmed the death of a civilian in the West Bank town of Jerricho from a projectile.White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan said that the attack appeared to have been “defeated and ineffective” and was a “significant escalation” by Iran.
President Joe Biden said the United States is “fully supportive” of Israel following the attack.
The attacks were launched a day after Israel began its offensive in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah, a terrorist group backed by Iran. Hezbollah has vowed to continue fighting Israel, in proclaimed solidarity with Gaza, the Palestinians, and the Lebanese people.
It’s starting, just how bad and wide spread it will be is anyones guess.
