Tax the Billionairs
Billionaires to Trump and other 2020 candidates: Please tax us! Is a article on the CNBC website by Maggie Fitzgerald.
I have read a lot of these articles and I still don’t understand why they want the government to create a special tax just for them. If they want to pay more taxes into the Federal Government nothing is stopping them. They can give as much of their money away as they want. The problem is the government will waste it as soon as they get it.
They would be better off starting these programs themselves and hiring someone competent to run them. “This revenue could substantially fund the cost of smart investments in our future, like clean energy innovation to mitigate climate change, universal child care, student loan debt relief, infrastructure modernization, tax credits for low-income families, public health solutions, and other vital needs,” the letter said. But couldn’t those things be better managed by the private sector than the government. Sure the government has come up with some things that have made our existance better here in the United States and the world but is it really the governments job? Lets take some of the items mentioned above.
Tax credits for low-income families. Instead of a tax credit why not build education training campuses to retrain these people to do the jobs that are out there today. If needed bring them up to speed on the basics so they will be able to learn the more complex skills. If they have kids put the day care in the campuses so the parents can check up on their kids, maybe have meals with them. Another idea start teaching the kids instead of just letting them play. The sooner they start the better their future will be.
Student loan debt relief, REALLY? These students are suppose to be smart if they get into college right? So they can’t figure out that if they borrow money for education they have to pay it back? What are these people that are supposedly going to be our next great generation, being taught. Maybe its not the kids but the educators that are to blame, maybe not. I just know that bailing out someone, giving them a free ride that others had to pay for is not the answer. Giving anyone anything almost never helps and only creates dependents.
Clean energy innovation to mitigate climate change? What is that? Clean energy always creates waste, is always made of materials that create waste, if not toxic waste, and if the world is not on board and actively working along the same goals its not going to work the way they want it to. Can’t the Billionaires develop the scientific complexes to look into this. Hire scientist to come up with the next big ideas to combat this? Why does it have to be the government that takes the taxes and invent the next big energy innovation.
The only thing that I see the government doing but maybe not better than the private sector is infrastructure modernization. But lets face it every President has spent trillions on infrastructure and the next administration wants another trillion. But it seems that nothing is ever done. There is no news of what this or that hundred billion has done to help with the infrastructure. It seems the money is just sucked into some black hole and nothing is done. I think the government is putting it away somewhere and hoping that we forget that it was ever approved.
No I don’t think we need another tax on the upper 1 % of the upper 1%. If they have so much money they don’t know what to do with it. Hire someone smarter than you are and let them put it to good use. The American People are a lot better at using that money than the government is.
